Are video game soundtracks the new concept albums?
A fascinating analysis based on HEALTH’s score for May Payne 3 and some amazing insight to the score and production of Halo 4, by Massive Attack producer, Neil Davidge.

Reggie Watts is way cool. I had the pleasure of interviewing him for Consequence of Sound and also created the feature art for the article. This is actually the first interview with original feature art we’ve done.
Inspired by Reggie’s interest in scientific mysticism and Legend, I drew him taking a bite of that luminescent apple from one of the Legend posters. Inside is liquid cosmos and universal knowledge, hence his vacant stare.

Sure, I’ve made plenty of “Stairway To Heaven” jokes in my day, but this one officially “shuts down the game”. Respect.
Some feature art of mine for Consequence of Sound’s tribute to MCA of the Beastie Boys. Yauch was a Buddhist and spent a lot of his personal time working to free Tibet. For this image I combined an early picture of him with Tibetan prayer flags and an image of NYC.

My feature artwork for pych rockers White Fence and Ty Segall’s collaborative album, Hair. Simply riffing off the album’s title, I went back to my retro magazine sources to get some luscious hair of a fun and sun late 80s crowd. Entwining them in strands of illustrated hair and cutting out their faces in favor of TV static for a nice psych feel. The photo’s natural colors over-complicated the piece somewhat, so I used a photo error shade of magenta to bring them all together for the final CoS piece. However, I do really love the natural colors of the cut-outs so I’ve included them here.

check out this super creepy and yet touching video for “Dead Homes” by Bleubird. i made this beat with help from Radical Face, and Bird wrote two beautiful verses about the pain and beauty in the life of a musical drifter, as told through portraits of his two old homes in Berlin & Montreal. if you like it…please reblog.
TodayConsequence of Soundpublished a way-cool article: The 101 Best Alternative Karaoke Songs. For it, I designed 11 screens from an imaginary karaoke machine featuring lyrics to alt. hits and the awkward as hell retro video found at the shadiest Korean karaoke parlors.
