Feature artwork for Consequence of Sound’s review of Daft Punk’s “Random Access Memories”. This was a collaborative piece featuring illustrations of Daft Punk by Justin Hopkins, Virginia McCarthy, Matthew Vidalisa and myself. I also did the final layout and design.

My feature art for the Consequence of Sound review of the new Vampire Weekend record, Modern Vampires of the City. I’m back to my old love/ adversary ballpoint pen. I love drawing in ballpoint and seldom have done pieces in it this big. I still haven’t made up my mind if it was a good choice or not. I love how the blood turned out though.

Well heck, I’ll cut to the chase – I think Floyd saw “Dark Side of the Rainbow” and thought to themselves, “gee, what if we actually tried to do that?” And they did it with the ultimate Oz movie, Return to Oz.

My feature artwork for Consequence of Sound’s review of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds’ 2013 album Push the Sky Away. This piece is based on a quote by Cave regarding the album, “”if I were to use that threadbare metaphor of albums being like children, then Push The Sky Away is the ghost-baby in the incubator and Warren’s loops are its tiny, trembling heart-beat.” Watercolor.

Top: The Postal Service - Give Up

This piece is the feature art for CoS’s first installment of “The Continuing Tales Of…”. This series features a story for every song on a particular album, a different album every month. The debut focuses on The Postal Service’s 2003 album Give Up. For the feature art I re-imagined the bedroom from the album cover having been left since then, vines crawling in the window, the castle in the clouds drawing closer, and the strange man from within the album’s booklet lurking ominously.

The album and single images for good kid all feature old Polaroids, this image takes that concept and puts a spin on it - Collaging my cell phone photos since back to the advent of the camera phone, many of them highlighting urban decay.

Feature artwork for Consequence of Sound’s review of Bat For Lashes’ 2012 album The Haunted Man.

The Haunted Man’s striking cover photo of Natasha Khan nude with an also naked man draped over her, was inspired by a Ryan McGinley photograph “Girl With A Wolf”. Taking inspiration from both sources, my frequent collaborator Virginia McCarthy and I imagined Khan communing with the man from the album cover and a spectral wolf. Virginia drew the initial illustration, which I then tweaked and provided watercolors.

Hey all! Maybe you’ve heard that Nerdapalooza is this weekend in Orlando. It’s the largest nerd music festival in the world, no big deal. Well, dig this: the whole show will be streaming via Nerdy Show! Head over to Nerdy Show Live to see all the action and I’ll be hosting in-between acts. Pretty cool, right? Well we also made the cover of the Orlando Weekly featuring me and the Nerdapalooza merch boss, Amanda. Hot damn!

Cap, our Art Director, will be hosting this year’s live stream of Nerdapalooza and made it on the cover of the local paper!
